Where do you get this "from someone else's POV (not the mage)" bit? I
think I'm looking at the same paragraph you are, but it seems to me
that when the text refers to "a sim of a magician casting a spell"
that they're talking about recording the sim from the magician casting
a spell.
Later in the same paragraph, they talk about failed attempts to record
a skillsoft for magic. From everything I've seen about the production
of skillsofts, the skill use has to be recorded first hand, and simply
can't be recorded from someone else's POV.
To get back to the original question (Is it possible to record magical
experences such as astral projection, aura reading, and spellcasting
on Simsense?) the following two quotes from Shadowbeat, p.76 speak for
themselves:
"...magic itself does not record worth a hoot. Astral elements simply
don't show up in an ASIST recording."
"Sims involving magical plot lines always use special effects for
astral sequences, because astral perceptions just dont show on the
recording."
