Magic is the result of the manipulation of mana, either consciously or
subconsciously.

For example, a mage manipulates mana to create a spell (magic). Astral
perception is the result of the gifted person being able to manipulate
mana on an unconscious (IMHO) level. Magic is sort of a special effect
created by mana that has a real effect on the physical world.

The real question is, "What the heck is *mana*?"
