Okay, after reading more than a few of these, here's possibly a few
suggestions.
Pyrokinetics is actually a subset of Psychokinesics. Heat, and to certain
extents, cold, is actually a product of motion. In this case, friction
between two or more objects. By excitation of the molecular/structural
framework through agitated motion, it becomes possible to create/abstract heat
from a given material or target. Even air.
Telepathics is the synchronous contact and "communication" between two or more
logical centers of rational organization. By moving these centers into
synchronous activity, an exchanging of dialect/intention and even "meaning"
can be transferred or shared.
Empathy is the receptivity of psychosomatic pressures that a living, reactive,
being expresses on a subconscious or even paraconscious level. Empathic
Transmittability is merely the ability to express an inner psychosomatic
pressure upon another target, thereby causing/influencing the nature of that
beings self-percieved expression.
Psychoportation is the act of direct motility, of positional transferance, and
quite literally remains the stuff of pure fiction as of this point in time.
Ingraining is the creation of a parallel pattern in a given, previously
existing, structure in such a way as to be compatible or harmonious with the
various frequency ranges that are exerted by Psionic and Parapsionic
expression. This occurs by expressing a given frequency or range of
frequencies in a physically, often theorized to be molecular or near-atomic,
in requirement.
Ingraining is the cause behind the now researched forms of "psychic
impressionism" that we have so often heard reviewed or researched by various
investigative agencies (ranging from University, Governmental, or even Civil
Authorities). It's the core at the study of how a "plant" actually feels an
act of violence that occurs within it's near-vicinity. In theory, if the
expressing psychoimpressionist (the person doing the ingraining) is able to
express themselves in a strong enough manner, they can "ingrain" a given
functionability or parapsionic property upon an item, place, or even within
another living (not necessarily thinking) being.
Telekinesics is the often vaulted "mind over matter" abilities, where the
individual "moves an object" without directly, physically, doing so. In
theory, it is the gross, macromaterialistic, manipulation of physical matter.
Levitation, "Magic Fingers", Object Animation and even "polteirgeist"
activities are all associated with Telekinesics. Pyronetic/Pyrokinetic
activities are also paralleling these actions, with Pyronetic/Pyrokinetic
activities dealing with a more micromaterialistic, finite, degree of control.
Symbio-empathics is the range and realm of "Healers", where one individual or
entity can allow for their bodies recovery abilities (which are often many
times stronger than normal individuals) to "link up" or become
"syncronous"
with another's, in order to lend them a greater rate of recovery or
physical/psychological rehabilitation. Please also note, Empathics and
Symbio-empathics are capable of communicating with other beings of a parallel
special orientation without the use of language or physical expressionism.
Now how would all of this coincide with Shadowrun? Honestly, a "Hermetic"
viewpoint would say that the hermetic magician is merely able to perform any
of these actions, which in turn reflect or are at least highly reactive with
the "astral" (or even Metaplanar) mediums, causing in turn "Magical
Manifestations".
Shamanic paths actually give to the diversity, stating that a "Centralist" (I
am honestly unable to translate the symbolic word as I remember it) is treated
seperately from the "Medicine Man". To me, comparing it to a Shadowrun
theorem on paranatural abilities, I would say that a Shaman is claiming a
"Psionics User" is most notably an Adept or Aspected Magician of some form.
Please note, that I have the beginnings of our house rules up on HHH, but
simply cannot find the heart to transfer all of that material we have
previously developed at this time. I also know that at one time, Steve
Kenson's expanded details on Psionics (more than Awakenings actually printed)
were available on his website/ftp region for viewing as well.
