Granted, I just find it amusing that the same word can have two
totally different meanings in different regions that (ostensibly) speak
the same language. Take "bloody" for instance. Here it means, well,
covered with blood. It's not swearing, and schoolchildren don't get
reprimanded for saying it. When I was in Scotland this summer I came
across a few others that sort of made me go, "uh, okay, whatever you say."

Marc (whose favorite bit of New Zealander derogatory slang is "dag," the
term originally used to describe the shit-encrusted dreadlock of wool
hanging pendulously from a sheep's ass.)
