Try using realistic training times and Karma soon becomes less of an
issue - unless, of course, you're a magical character (but that's because
SR3 gives lightly cybered magical characters a hell of a big bonus compared
to _everyone_ else). Even then, though, if you use 'training times' for
Initiation and the like it's not that bad.

Of course, I suppose it depends on exactly how much money your
characters are able to earn at any given time. 1,000¥ is a fairly hefty
sum for my players since they'll only receive from 2,000¥-10,000¥ per
adventure - and I do fairly long, fairly difficult adventures...

Actually, on the subject of Karma... I've got some rules floating around
in various stages of development concerning Skill and Attribute advancement
- any and all rules written for the game don't make a whole lot of
real-world sense. I mean, exactly how long does it take to upgrade your
Biotech Skill to 1? You can do a First Aid course in less than 8 hours
quite easily - that's about a Biotech 1, right? Does it take longer to
upgrade your Quantum Physics to 1? Ever tried studying this crap -
especially without any background in hard math, physics, and whatever?
Realistically, it should take differing amounts of time to learn each
skill, and as far as the game mechanics go, it doesn't (and don't even go
there with SR3's rather vague description of training time...)

edible underwear it'd have to have a flavour wouldn't it? Underwear
flavour - I don't think so... what...? Oh... oh... I see... watermelon, eh?"
