For all you Australian shadowrunners
out there the Auran Brisbane Maelstrom Convention
will be held on 1st - 3rd of May, 1999 in Brisbane,
Australia.

Your's truely has co-written a single session
Shadowrun Third Edition adventure to be run
at Maelstrom.

When looking for a topic and focus for the run
last October my writing partner and I chose the
Olympic Games of 2060. Imagine my sheer
joy when all the Olympic corruption scandals
broke. Life certainly did imitate art in this instance.

For those interested that don't live in Brisbane
the convention organisers have brokered a deal
with Ansett Airlines to fly you to Brisbane cheaper
than the regular joe. If you'd like further information
please drop me an e-mail and I'll get it to the right
person. Well as to the SR3 adventure it's called
"Chariot's of Ire" and the blurb that is in the con
booklet is reproduced below for consumption or

The awakened world welcomed back the Olympic Games
in 2044 after an absence of several decades.
Though popular again the games of the 35th
Olympiad were not without controversy.

The International Olympic Committee was forced to
allow entries from extraterritorial multi-national
megacorps under the terms of the Shiawase Decision,
not to mention the threat of having billions of nuyen
in corporate sponsorship withdrawn.

In 2056 the Japanese Olympic Committee passed a
resolution to ban outright athletes from the
metahuman races from partipating in events in Tokyo.

This has never been forgotten. The IOC was put under
immense pressure from lobby groups and governments
to allow metahumans to compete fairly.

It is now 2060, the games of the 39th Olympiad are
upon us. Vancouver, the host city, has seen a renewed
popularity as the city that is hosting the first 'friendly'
olympics this century. People of all races and citizenships
both national and corporate are allowed to compete side
by side. To the victor goes the spoils. Amongst them
the coveted gold medal, the adulation of the world and the
multiple millions of nuyen in endorsements.

James Washington of the UCAS has just won the men's 100
metre sprint. He is set to become an instant millionaire,
worldwide hero and household name in three hours...

If he can pass the drug test.
