Tried it myself, but kept dropping stiches (I kid you not). Resorted to
rings, because they are stronger, simpler and authentic. Most of my
reinacting buddies would burn you alive for thinking about using knitted
chain. Apparently with a fine enough wire a good industrial knitting
machine will do a suit in no time.
