Subject: Mist form - Ghouls - Decking
Date: Tue, 23 Feb 1999 13:20:05 -0600
:Hi,
:
:Some questions for the list:
:
:1. Mist form:
:Does a vampire using mist form keep his clothes ?
:Does he take with him what he is holding ?

Its never said that they DON't bring thier gear with them, and the
novel "Terminus Line" seemed to have vamps doing so. Howver, the
description of how the power works makes youi wonder how they could do so.
I'd say its a judgement call. Since the effect is one of "mind over
matter", I'd allow gear to be carried by the mist form and then re-formed.

:2. Ghouls:
:Are ghouls members of a separate race ?

No, they are people infected with a HMMVV related virus.

:Can trolls, dwarves, orks and elves become ghouls ?

Yes, although elven and dwarf ghouls seem very rare.

:If not, what happens when they become infected ?
:Do they become member of a ghoul subtype, like it is the case when
:they are infected by a vampire, becoming respectively dzoo-noo-quas,
:goblins, wendigos and banshees ?

Nope, a ghoul is ghoul. Well, there's the african ones with the long
legs, but those also exist in all meta-types.

:What are those hypothetical subtypes?

Check "Bug city" or "Target: UCAS" they give the current info on how
ghouls become ghouls. Supposedly tghe new SRC will also have similar
info.

:3. Decking:
:As I understand it, a cranial remote deck seems able to treat simsense
:signals.
:It's also my understanding that the input of a cyberdeck is a simsense
:signal.
:Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Its not to clearly stated. The input (and output) of a cyberdeck is a
Matrix signal. The matrix signal proably carries encoded information
about the simsense involved - otherwise, sculpted systems would not
overide reality filters.

:Assuming that a decker has an access point to the Matrix rigged, no
:matter how, and has a cyberdeck at hand, could he use the ability of a
:cranial remote deck to convey simsense signals both ways to hack
:remotely ?

I don't think the fact that the deck was cranial would matter- what
would matter is whether his remote gear had enough bandwidth. Simsense
transmitters probably do. Youd need two sets, thoug- a transmitter and
reciever at either end. I assume one set would be at the jackpoint, and
the other carried by the decker.
