What an interesting though all of this has just sparked to me.
Battletech could be looked at as a futuristic translation of "Cyberpirates"
IMO for the terms of Shadowrun, especially when viewed from the POV of
corporations and/or governments starting the "Mech Combines".
I'm going to have think a tad about this. I personally still don't see Mechs
making any advances into the current (even 2060) timelines for SR, but
something that would be a few decades, or even a century into the
future...well hey, anything is possible.
Now the only thing that would make me wonder would be the consideration of why
no magicians (aside from the Magic and Space arguments in general).
