Provided you haven't mucked about with any of Word's custom menu
settings:
1. Click "Insert" menu
2. Select "Symbol..."; a window will open up
3. Select "(normal text)" in the "Font" drop down menu of the
"Symbol"
window
4. Click on the Yen symbol (Fourth Row, under lowercase g)
5. Click the "Insert" button.
6. Close "Symbol" window
There are ways to automate this process, but I'll leave that as an
exercise for the reader.
