<rigged vs. Matrix security systems rant snipped>
In addition to endorsing Paul's statement(s), one other thing
I'd also like to
add is that both rigged and Matrix security systems have their
own unique
strengths and weaknesses that may predispose one over the other.
For example, a rigged security system, with its faster response
and the living
instinct of a rigger's mind, performs very well for maintaining
virtual
telepresence, and also for rapid threat response. On the other
hand, it's not
very good for access control (determining who gets in where, and
sometimes
when) as well as traffic monitoring (logging who entered/left
where, and at
what time). This is especially true in areas which are expected
to have a very
high volume of traffic; it's like trying to keep track of one
particular itch
amongst a total-body rash of itches. In these matters (access
control,
security logging, high traffic areas), a Matrix system (which is
built upon
handling, processing, and routing reams of data at any one time)
would be
preferred.

Another difference between Matrix and Rigger systems is that Matrix
systems are run by programs and it's Deck vs Deck, whereas with a Rigger
system it's Willpower vs Willpower.
