| Black Talon was made in every calibre from 9 mm up to 30-06, and it
| was never teflon coated. It was made of solid copper, and had a black
| low friction coating, that isn't teflon, but a proprietary formula.
The chemical is similar to Teflon, and it has similar properties in regards
to both barrel wear and ballistic fabric penetration. I called it Teflon
only because that is what the media mistakenly calls it, because the US
Armed Forces use it for friction reduction in M-16A2 issued ammunition, and
because I cannot remember its proper name.
| It gets its name from the form the bullet expands to in ballistic
| gelatin.
Yep, it is rather nasty. But like I said, current generation last-chance
vests can stop a .44 Magnum Black Talon fired at a range of less than 1
inch.
[...]
| The .44 Magnum has not been the most powerful handgun round for quite
| a while, but basically correct. [...]
Yeah, well, try finding .50 BMG for your Maadi-Griffin in the local
sporting goods shop :).
