Don't even put it on a public server. If it is at all possible for someone
to access your material on the Web, without having to type a password in or
bypass some security, then it is considered to be publicly available.
Do your development and testing on your own PC. If you need a server to try
out the javascript or other support code, there are free servers
(Microsoft's Personal Web Server is a scaled down version of IIS, and Apache
is freely available. There are others) that should cover your needs.
This is by the way of general advice to anyone doing web site development,
not just advice to Scott.
