<snipped basically everything>
This is a reply to any post that's talked about the
"cutting-and-pasting" problem that may or may not have
happened. I have more fuel for that little brush-fire.
The Gamemaster's Screen, 3rd Ed. has a table in the top
left corner that deals with turn sequence. Under the
heading "Resolving Ranged Combat," number 4 says to:
"Resolve Dodge Test (Optional: Combat Pool only
against weapon's Power)"
This is a 2nd Ed. rule, in 3rd Ed., you roll Combat Pool
against base TN 4.
SR3, p.93, paragraph 5, has a similar oddity. The
section is on Cyberware and social interaction, and the
sentence goes: "Wired Reflexes and cyberware that
primarily affects movement, such as move-by-wire
systems..."
Move-by-Wire is mentioned only in Cybertechnology,
never in SR3, except for that location.
These two examples lead me to believe that the cut-
and-paste argument has some merit. Maybe someone
who owns Cybertechnology, or the 2nd Ed.
Gamesmaster's Screen, or both, could verify whether
or not this is an exact copy of what was writen there.
And finally, about the Viper Slivergun, and whether or
not it does whatever it does...use your own rule, and
try not to work yourself into a fit because someone else
uses a different rule. Geez. I haven't had this much
useless mail since someone put my e-mail address on
a chat-bathroom wall ;)
