AFAIK all nitrate-based explosives (which includes things like gun cotton
as well as TNT) have enough oxygen atoms in their molecules to combust
without the need for an external oxygen supply. For those who like to
experiment with this kind of stuff, mix nitric acid with just about any
organic substance, let it dry, and set fire to the end product (but I'm
not responsible if you blow yourself up...).
