Are you ruled by your players?

You are mistaken. There is NO Earthdawn stuff in Shadowrun and there is
no reason that you should feel forced to use Earthdawn in Shadowrun.
Everything that you consider "Earthdawn in Shadowrun" was in Shadowrun
_before_Earthdawn_existed_!! The only exception might be the implied
threat of Horrors. My only reference for the entrance of the threat of
Horrors in SR is PA/E which is copyright 1993, the same year as the ED
main book. Earthdawn has not manipulated SR; Shadowrun birthed Earthdawn
and Earthdawn embelished on details of Shadowrun. These embelishments
are not found in SR books. They are found ED books. The imagined
infringement of ED on SR is just that: imagined. You could no more sever
the link between SR and ED than you could sever the link between mother
and child. Quit whining about ED/SR crossovers because they are (at
least for the most part) a fiction of your imagination.

As for the detremental or beneficial nature of the link, let's agree to
disagree. Hopefully, you do not need me to agree with you in order to
feel comfortable with your own opinions as I certainly do not need you to
do so. Therefore, if you wish to discuss the nature of Earthdawn and
Shadowrun, I am more than willing to oblige you, or anyone else, as long
as it does not deteriorate into "I'm right, you're wrong.".

I can understand if you dislike Earthdawn for expanding on Shadowrun's
History. It is much like the Marvel Comics character Wolverine. For
those unfamiliar with Wolvie, his mysterious background is a fairly
integral part of the character. Some people consider believe that
Wolverine's background/origin should not be revealed for fear that it
might ruin the character. Others would like to read about his past. If
this is the case with your/anyone's dislike of Earthdawn, all of
unvieling of the mysterious background of Shadowrun happens in Earthdawn,
not in Shadowrun. Therefore, if you don't want to know, don't buy ED
products. However, if you want to know about Shadowrun's future as
envisioned by at least half of the original creators, read Earthdawn.

Lastly, I appoligize if in this or any post, I came off as antagonistic.
Please, just don't say something shouldn't exist because you don't like
it. If Earthdawn was never birthed, little would be different in
Shadowrun.
