I have been thinking for the longest time about flamethrowers and SR is
lacking in any type of information about flamethrowers at all. So here are
some of my ideas.

First, flamethrowers would be similar in range to a shotgun, and would use the
choke method also, to better determine the spread of the flames (burning
liquid ??).

Second, a flamethrower would (instead of having ammo listed) have a reservoir
rating, stating the number of points of 'flame' that it has available in the
reservoir. Why?? A flamethrower needs more 'fuel' to get the fire out to
ranges that are farther away than whatever is close in.

So how would the point system work? Each range category (short, medium, and
so on) would cost their respective boxes of damage in fuel points. So, going
with this, here is a small table showing the fuel costs:

Range Fuel Points
Short 1
Medium 2
Long 3
Extreme 5

As for the damage of the weapon, perhaps a 9M would be a good value to assign,
although this is something that could still be up for grabs of course. The
one thing however, is that flame usually stays around for a little bit, so say
for every turn the fire burns, the damage power of the flame is reduced by
one, until it reaches zero, at which point the flame dies away (unless it is
on something that has caught fire from it).

Any ideas on the damage the wielder of a flamethrower would take should the
reservoir take damage and explode? Ideas on weight? How small can you get a
flamethrower to be?

Oh, and any ideas on the reverse of a flamethrower - a ice-thrower?? Using
the concept of someone shooting some extremely cold liquid - like liquid
nitrogen?
