say Joe Runner is facing some baddie. He's backed up against a wall, and
Mr. Bad is standing there with a knife ready to cut him with a knife.
But Joe has a hold-out pistol tucked on his forearm. As Mr. Bad is
preparing to stab him, about 3 feet away, Joe snabs his hold-out,
extends his arm, and shoots, called shot, face.
The rules say that, since a hold-out's too small for a smartlink (it's
the same size as the hold-out for Pete's sake), he's facing a target
number of 8 (base target 4+4 for called shot). That makes no sense. He's
got the gun about three inches from Mr. Bad's face, and there's a good
chance he'll miss. No one in real life could miss. Plus, with a
hold-out, he'll only be doing 4M. Now, I'm not that knowledgeable about
guns, but it seems to me that ANY gun being shot three inches from
someone's face will do him a lot more damage than 4M.
