I had the same thing. I had a person who I taught how to role-play and she
just knows shadowrun...she never even thought of looting a corpse. I got
one guy now who's a regular AD&D player and he likes (liked) to loot. I
had other people who have never played AD&D loot too, so it's not just
that. For the most part I think it's ok. Heck, people kill each other for
a pair of sneakers, think they won't kill someone for something even more
valuable. It depends on the campaign a bit too. If you're playing a real
street level thing I'd say looting is a way of life. But if you're not
there are a couple of things you could do.
A) if they are trying to sell things be realistic. the base is only going
to be 35% of the price not including negotiation. that's not much...and if
you make them role-play the entire transaction it's going to get pretty
tiring.
B) have the cops or other people show up. specially when not in the
barrens...for a quick fight anywhere outside of the barrens I end the
combat with "You hear sirens in the distance" unless there's a reason not too.
