Actually, you can have fun with that stuff. Hit a Renraku patrol around
the edge of a remote facility, leave behind a some gear with the Ares logo
and maybe a still-warm street bum in Ares armour, and high-tail it out.
Starts a nice temporary war that you can use to hide your own activities,
or stir up some buisness.
