> I'd disagree, if only because all the serious Practical Pistol
shooters I knew used red-dot sights of various types (mostly Aimpoints,
but a few C-Mores were appearing). Not a laser to be seen, though. If
the laser was faster then it would have been used - these guys were
_quick_ shooters.

How fast? About one, one and a half seconds to line up on each NEW
target? About the same amount of time as a simple action for a person
with only one action per round in SR? :)

I suppose you could say it takes one aiming action to line up, then you
can keep shooting as often as you like without any more aiming actions,
providing you're shooting at the same target and you don't use your
combat pool to dodge, or suffer anything greater than a light wound.
That simulates acquiring a target then keeping a bead on it (assuming
it's easier and faster to follow a target than to lock onto a new one -
which it would be, IMNSHO). Dodging or being hit hard would shake your
aim off, requiring you to reacquire your target. Gets a bit
complicated, though.

Anyway, the reason I'd do it that way is because the red-dot sight is
basically twice as good as a laser sight if it doesn't have that
disadvantage and I want to keep them on a parity.

Also, be warned - anyone who wants to us a scope of ANY kind in my
games from now on (thermo, low-light, magnified, red dot), must now
make AT LEAST one aiming action before taking a shot if they want to
benefit from the scope.

> Acts as a laser sight without emitting anything: no range limits. A
red dot scope may have image magnification, low light or thermal
imaging, and may be used with imaging (though not magnifying)
cybereyes. May not be combined with an ultrasound sight. A drawback is
that the user must look through the scope, hence firing "from the hip"
loses the benefits.

I don't know about all the options, but then, I don't know a lot about
the sights. If you reckon they could be enhanced with low-light or
thermo, why the hell not? :)
