I can see that it can get many benifits from materializing all of which
helps the spirit from being killed while on the physical plane. It's just
that spirits hate materializing and would rather stay on the astral plane. I
always believed that spirits where more powerful or it was more dangerous to
fight them on the astral plane and couldn't see why they would get added
benifits (on the astral side) when materializing.
I guess one way of looking at it is that the materialized essense on the
physical plane enshroud the astral form giving it protection while it's
astral self is bound and limited to the physical form it created??
I guess it's not so much of a rules question but more of a way of
thinking, trying to keep all the magic rules in a consistant theme of
thought...
