That would actually be a better way of thinking of it than the SRComp puts
forth. Yet they are SOTA rules, supposedly representing the march of
technology not the breakdown of current systems (even cyberdeck programs in
SR don't degrade, they are just outmatched and their effective rating drops).
So while your above explanation is the only thing that makes sense for
Reaction SOTA, the SRComp system doesn't use it.
Ohhh, wouldn't that be cool for Man & Machine? Rules for cyberware slowly
failing in the body. (Maybe Chase from Night's Pawn would be usable as a
player character then.)
