I think there would be a greater need for high ideals. They would
just be compromised so much more often. Most people would be desperate
for something to believe in but be skeptical of mush that is offered. The
old Universal Brotherhood was one such ideology and all the corps have
been offering their own to there workers and customers. The people who
follow these philosophy are often blind to the inconsistencies within
them. Justification and rationalization are insidious things. That's part
of the reason for my belief that the brain is the dumbest organ in the
human body (why else do placebos work).
