First of all, it's never said that they are "evil" just "alien." In
fact
every reference makes point of this fact. They have no real set goals on
this planet, they just are. If you're looking for well documented
information on this, I'd check out the following sourcebooks/adventures.
Spoiler space for any PC's out there.

Okay, that should be enough.
- Universal Brotherhood: First appearances? Considered by some to be the
Holy Grail of adventures.
- Queen Euphoria: Small ant based adventure, pretty cut and dry, not a
whole lot of background info.
- Double Exposure: Helps explain some more of the UB's connections with
the spirits. Generally a very tough adventure.
- Bug City: The book if you're looking for insect information. Not a
whole lot of history, but a lot of details.
- Threats: A nice section on insect spirits, their goals, wants, needs,
etc.
- Target: UCAS: Own it, haven't read it, talks about Chicago after the
walls come a tumblin' down.

Any I'm forgetting? If not, that's all that's out there.
