There are three classes of angels:

Cherubs
Serpahs
Arch-Angels

Each was greater and more powerful than the one below it.

Cherubs : Think little babies with wings, that is how they are depicted
Seraphs : Think looking like men.
The Archangels are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Urial. These were the big
guys so to speak. For example Michael is the General of the Hosts, he is
associated with Fire and the South oft times. That's just a quick pull
from my memory.
