IIRC in House of the Sun the insect spirits were helping to prevent mana
activities that would make horror entry easier. I also think that the insect
spirits in Earthdawn were called Invae, not horrors. While insect spirits
are baddies (really more alien and of different orientation than evil)
they'll side with humans against the horrors if it comes down to choosing
sides.
