True, but there are probably variations in the RH factors and platelets. Tests
on blood today can determine race, sex, approx age, ect. And I seem to remember
something about elves always halving elf babies? Although, it might have been
in one of the novels.

Spells can also tell the difference. Hence the "Slay Troll", "Slay
Elf", ect
spells. So I would say an assensing could tell if you got the requiste number
of success. You might even be able to tell with Astral perception. IIRC your
astral image looks like you. The surgery would not have altered the ears on the
asrtal form IMOHO.
