My interpretation is that the insect spirits (Invae) are weaker
forms of the spirits (Horrors/Demons) and thus are bottom of the food chain
and bottom of the chain of command on their home Meta-plane. Thus now that
they have crossed over to Earth they will try to stop the more powerful
Horrors getting here, but not because they are on the humans side, but so
that they can feast on the humans themselves. When the other Horrors do get
here they will retake command of the Invae and then they will not be on the
humans side. Remembering also that some of the creatures already here, like
Mantis spirits, will eat other Bugs in preference to humans, but if all the
Bugs get destroyed?........

Jeremy.
