Traditionally it has been water that has been life giving and
nourishing.
Wolfchild is spot on with Air=Intellect.
I like Fire as Combat, as it has correspondence to passion.
Earth and Manipulation are imperfect matches IMO, but it works well
enough for the game.
I feel that Detection spells would be learned by all magickers, but
this could be a throwback to AD&D,
where all mages learnt Lesser Divination.

K, I got these ideas from honest to goodness research into paganism
and other occult goodies.

I honestly dont mind Healing becoming more useful. It may cause a less
lethal game but there were always enough foci to help with healing
spells anyway, that this addition does not make that much impact.
