That confuses a lot of people. Under SR3, I'm not sure how to read it. I'd
say they that manifested spirits still take the Essence x2, while the lower
Armor rating listed with the bugs stats goes for *everything*, even astral
attacks and spells. Makes the bugs much tougher that way.
