I tried to
| introduce one into my first ED campaign and my players (all SR vets who
had
| been with the system since 89) burst out laughing. I seriously could not
get
| them to stop until I nixed the Windling. It's just such a staple of
fantasy
| tripe that it ruins things for players (or at least these players) who see
it
| without the grounding of SR's high technology to keep things balanced.
| Oddly, the players loved the T'skrang though.

Of course they love Tskrang. They're a great idea. I love them as well. But
Windlings are a great idea as well. And the ED windlings are not necessarily
the "Kender with wings" that everyone thinks that they are. There are some
pictures in Denizens 1, if you can get a look at one, of a windling
warrior/windmaster that really put a lot of these stereotypes to rest for
me. The whole article in Den.1 is really good at portraying windlings as a
much fuller race than people usually think that they are.
And IMHO, anyone who laughs at a windling deserves what they get... and if
the windling's played well, they will get it.
again, just my 2cp.
