In SR3, a Ward only cares about astrally present objects and beings. It
doesn't know about and doesn't care about the car or any other purely
physical construct. So, it doesn't matter whether the ghoul is walking or
in a car, the ghoul will encounter the Ward in this scenario.

What happens is described on page 83 of MITS - Pressing Through a Barrier.
The dual natured ghoul must make a Charisma test against a target number
equal to the Ward's force. If a number of successes equal to or more than
half the Ward's force is achieved then the ghoul passes through without a
problem. If at least one success was scored, but less than half the Ward's
force in number, then the ghoul will be forced to astrally project if he
can (and be astrally stuck outside the barrier). If the ghoul can not
astrally project or has no successes in the Charisma test then he must
resist (Ward's force * 2)D Stun damage with Willpower while being dragged
through the barrier by the car.
