Ii really don't think that's the case in SR3 anymore. This changed along
with the removal of living creatures as astral obstructions and astral
barriers no longer block living creatures. The SR2 situation of the person
on a bike being thrown off when he hits the astral barrier is gone. He
doesn't notice a thing and just keeps on going. :-)
In SR3, the car provides no protection to dual natured creatures versus an
astral barrier or Ward. The car is irrelevant except for the fact that it's
forcing the ghoul through the Ward. An analogous situation to a car is the
example used in the MITS section in question, where a dual natured being is
trapped in an elevator passing through a Ward. Being enclosed in anything
provides no protection whatsoever.
