Other than that rule sucks, what kind of choice is that? You get a
point and you can choose whether or not you can get a metamagical
talent or not...hm, lemme think about that. Get a magic point and
nothing else, or get a magic point and a metamagical talent...nope,
I'll definitely go for "no metamagic" for 18 karma points, Alex.
With that kind of limit, why would you want to play a magician adept?
