I have to say that the topics that are being discussed here may not be
suitable for everyone's game all the time. However I also think that it
depends how things like satanic worship, child abuse/molestation, extreme
sexual situation, etc.. are actually introduced into your game.

I wont allow a player to play a "heartless killer" at the point of
character generation. I tell them I would prefer if they had either never
killed or have only killed once. I ask them to describe the feelings they
have about the killing, and what it's effect is on them.

Soldiers in WW2 still suffer nightmares and flashbacks of the deaths they
witnessed, and they were soldiers. I don't expect anything less of a
Shadowrunner.

I have displayed all of these "high sins" in my games at one point or
another. However I don't believe that I was "glorifying" them in my game.
Yes these things are a part of the real world and yes I want my game world
to be realistic, but no players don't have to be the only focus of that
realism.

Case in point. In my World of Darkness game the group faced a band of
Barrabi Cult of Ecstasy mages over a course of a month or so. In the end
the group felt totally justified at killing these evil men after witnessing
first hand each of those horrible actions I mentioned above. The group felt
better because in a role playing game they could do something about the
random violence, child abusers, and Satan worshipers. In the real world
none of us know how we might deal when confronted with a serial killer, but
in a role playing game the players can be brave, they can hunt down the man
and punish him. Maybe it helps them sleep better at night.. *shrug*

Just adding my $0.02,
