Nature spirits are everywhere in their domain, so you always are near them
once you've summoned them (remember that they go away when you leave their
domain, except if they're performing a service that's not finished yet).

Elementals, in SRII, needed to stay in LOS -- which did not mean the
magician had to have them in his or her field of vision all the time, just
that the two _could_ be able to see each other (there's an important
difference there). In SR3 that's been revised so that they only need to be
within (Charisma + Willpower + Magic) x 10 meters of the mage (using the
mage's attributes, not the elemental's).

In SR3, I'd say yes, provided the goon is within range. In SRII, no,
because the elemental must remain in LOS; so, as long as the magician
can't look around the corner (for instance by a conveniently-placed
mirror, or a large window that reflects what's happening around the
corner) the elemental can't engulf the goon.
