According to Strago, at 18:00 on 13 Sep 99, the word on

Usually, my players opt for lighter types of armor, or wear none at all
unless they expect to get into trouble. I usually describe an armor jacket
as looking like a winter coat in cut as well as thickness of material, so
to wear one in summer would be a good way of drawing attention to
yourself. (Unless you can pass yourself off as some kind of gangsta
homeboy from LA, I guess, but that draws attention to you in itself ;)

Hey, here's an idea: a cooling vest that you can wear underneath your body
armor. It'd increase your thermal signature from waste heat being vented
into the atmosphere, but it could help shadowrunners wear armor all day,
every day.

In our Cyberpirates campaign, the pirates usually wear no armor at all
unless they're about to start a firefight. And that last thing only
started after one or two characters got killed because they wore no armor
at all... As the GM, I kept stressing that it was too hot to wear armor
all the time -- which the players interpreted as "Don't wear armor,
period," but which I meant as "Wear armor only when you think you'll need
it" :)
