You can use spell defense to disrupt the "aim" of a DM spell, but they are
otherwise just (magically created) ranged attacks. That means theres no
spell resitance test. As proff of this, consider- In a spell resistance
test, the spellcaster needs a net success for the spell to do anything;
more succeses increase the effect, but for a combat spell, the dmage is
NEVER staged down (it just doesn't have an effect). With a DM, the spell /
attack, if not dodged, does damage which must be staged down.
Since you aren't making a spell reistance test, Magic Resistance would be
no use; it adds dice to a spell resitance test, not a damage resistance
test. Its also no use against "distance strike", "killing hands", or
spirit powers and attacks (including things like "inate spell-
Flamethrower", which are DM spells).
Of course, it also does not interfere with "friendly" power uses, like
"concelement" or "movement", and you can still use certain helpful
spells
on a resistant target (they don't work as well, but they work).
