I recommend you take a look at issue #7 of the Neo-Anarchist's Guide to
Everything Else, to be found at
http://shadowrun.html.com/plasticwarriors/nagee. It has an SR3 update of
an SR1 spell (with me so far? :) that our own K wrote up years ago to
function as a magical lightsaber -- they're called the Magesword spells,
and appear in the NAGEE Updates chapter.
