never came up. The Body has no aura when the mage is
projecting so I would assume anyone seeing it Astrally
would see it as a dead body? Or would they see the
connection between it and the astral protecting aura?

I'd say there would be a link of sorts, Jamz.
Otherwise, how would what happens at one end effect
the other end? If there was no link, killing the
astral form wouldn't kill the body - there would be no
MIND and SOUL in the body, but the body itself would
stay alive - as long as it was on life support. And
killing the body wouldn't destroy the astral form (in
Essence hours) - it'd just turn the astral form into a
free-floating spirit. I don't mean spirit as "spirit"
- it wouldn't give it any of the funky spirit powers -
I mean as in a ghost-type thing. The astral form could
do anything it could before - such as manifesting, or
casting spells - of course.
But that's all theory, because it doesn't happen. So
there must be some kind of link. Whether that link is
noticeable would depend on masking, I'd guess. Any
astrally projecting initiate would automatically mask
the link, unless they choose not to, and they could
also choose to actively mask it. A non-initated
magicker can't mask it.
It wouldn't be DIRECTIONAL, though - otherwise someone
could trace it back to the body. Which they can't. I
don't think.
What does this mean? Well, for my money, this is why
hurting one end hurts the other - so by casting a
spell on the body, it WILL hurt the astral form. I
can't remember where it says this, but it DOES say
somewhere (main rules would be my guess, maybe
Grimoire 2) that damage taken at one end SHOWS UP at
the other - if an insect spirit claws your astral
form, your body gets scratched. That may no longer be
the case in SR3 - not sure.
