And these tend to cover only the broad lines, without going in-depth, and
they often get the details wrong. (Want proof? Watch a documentary on,
say, the Discovery Channel, about a subject that you know a lot about.
Count the mistakes or omissions (sp?) they make.)

The ACW is studied largely in the US, not so much here in Europe, AFAIK,
and the reason to me seems to be twofold: first, it's the biggest war
fought in North America, and second, it was the first industrial war. The
Napoleonic wars get studied because taken together, they were essentially
a world war, not to mention involved one of the greatest army commanders
in history.

1912 and 1913. But I would call them local wars, between some of the
countries that went on to make up Yugoslavia from 1918 to the 1990s. Only
when Austria-Hungary got involved in 1914 did things get _slightly_ out of
hand :)
