There have been some changes to this. Aztechnology has definitely changed,
with a loss of status for the blood mages. As their power goes down, the
mood at the company, and therefore the country, will change to the more
corporate side. Of course, all of those temples are still there...

There is also the Yucatan rebellion, which I hope is going to become a
bigger background issue in the years to come. Maybe not so much that
runners get involved with it (although they could), but as a background
plot of how the war is going.

Doesn't SR history make a point of saying that Mexico City was really hard
hit by the VITAS waves and severely reduced the population? Even still, its
described as being extremely overcrowded and polluted.

It may deserve a break, but the history that they lay out does seem
believable. And with that history, its gonna be a while before they climb
back out of the bed of the things their with.
