Of course it is.
Sound travels better through liquids, than it does through gases.
AND it travels *even* better through solids!
Otherwise, it'd be pretty pointless to get an ultrasound.
Of the three, air (a gas) is the poorest medium for propagating sound
waves (discounting vacuums, that is).
