I've always just assumed that Stuffer Shack was the shadowrun version of
7-11. Just as food chains like Regal Burger was Burger King, McHughs was
McDonald's and Dairy King was Dairy Queen.
I've used Stuffer Shack in my campaign a few times, I was going to put them
under the umbrella of Shiawase, but insted decided to leave them independant
and came up with Universal Product Distribution for a parent company.
So, in my campaign, UPD had food production facilities as well as cheap junk
(and knock off) production facilities (like "Dollar Store" merchandise) to
stock and supply their own retail chains (Thats where Stuffer Shack fit in).
Most of the low level runs that the PCs did for UPD were to acquire
plans/designs/formula/R&D that other companies did that UPD was going to
pirate and sell in their stores... eventually one group had an open contract
with UPD that anything they could find/acquire that might have a high R&D
cost, but low production cost, UPD would buy off them if they brought it in.
