According to marcel, at 22:52 on 18 Oct 00, the word on the street was...

> sample quote drom my last game
> GM:"his name is Bob aahhh Bob aaah Bob Hunter. "
> PC1 "ahhh is he the brother of Jim Hunter of las week?"
> PC2 "nooo must be the uncle of James Hunter we met in the Cafe named
> 'some cafe'"
> PC3 "no his name was james Madison, James Hunter was the .... "

Yep, I recognize that all too well. I tend to pick NPC names by looking
around the room we play in and drawing inspiration from posters, book
authors, and so on. (Back when there was an Iron Maiden calendar there,
lots of NPCs used to be named some variation on "Ed" for example...)

I did write a utility several years ago to help me with this problem,
though these days we usually play in a room that has no computer so I
often can't use it myself. <plug>Those interested, go to
http://plastic.dumpshock.com/software/software.html to download a copy of
GameName v1.3 and its name files.</plug> I've been working on a version
2.0 for several years now but other stuff has so far kept me from
finishing it...
