I'd be more inclined to let mages choose the form of their watchers than
shamen; mages see spirits as constructs formed by their own consiousness
using mana (or something like that). Shamen think of spirits as creatures
living in the metaplanes which can be talked into doing things. At least,
they're the steriotypes.
