the lasermax fits the diode & batteries in the recoil spring guide rod.
Presumedly the plans and all working models were destroyed in the crash of
29, since all SR laser's are -2 conceal :-)
Attachment rails are becoming the rage for new handguns, allowing a
flashlight to be attached in front of the trigger guard. You'd be hard
pressed to retro-fit electronics into a gun for smart gun and such without
something riding on the outside.
Rifles have so much room it's not even funny, stock, handguard, foreend.
