According to Iridios, on Wed, 12 Sep 2001 the word on the street was...

> We were asked to help in Korea, Vietnam, and Kuwait.

In at least two of those three cases by governments that were almost
hand-picked by the US and its allies in the first place...

The UN obviously asks its member states for help, because it itself doesn't
have any way to enforce its decisions -- none that a country determined not
to listen to it, will respond to, anyway. Resolutions are nice, but if the
UN were to only pass resolutions it would be the League of Nations all over
again. So the UN turns to its members, especially the more powerful ones,
to supply troops to enforce those resolutions -- and since the US is the
most powerful member, not to mention the one that probably pays the
smallest membership fees (i.e. nothing at all), it's the one that gets
asked to do the big jobs.

Please explain to me how supplying M48 and M60 MBTs, F-4, F-15 and F-16
fighter jets, AH-64 helicopters, and a shitload of other military hardware
to Israel over the past 35 years, is not interfering in the Palestinians'
state of affairs? Israel doesn't buy military equipment to not use it,
unlike European and North American countries...

The US is most definitely involved in the Palestinians' state of affairs,
and in a way that makes it look to the average Ahmed on the street like the
US is strongly supporting Israel. So he's happy when the US takes a hit,
especially one as big as yesterday's.
