Actually they'd stop shooting AV rounds at him. Consider for a second the
human body shot with an anti-vehicle round. The typical body (short of maybe
an ork or trolls) will be swiss cheesed by AV rounds meaning that the AV
round hitting him would most likely pass through him thus they'd be unable
to shoot them at him if the girl is in front/behind him for risk of the
shots going through him and killing what they want to kidnap...

So no they'd not be using both darts and av rounds on him.
